The Hellblazer #22

This weeks review over at Impulse Gamer.

The Hellblazer #22 was an issue I had trouble with.  The story is really good, and very well written.  It’s not a very new reader friendly issue, but it is fun none the less.  The issue I had with this book, and it is a similar issue I had with the first issue of this run of the series:  The art just doesn’t fit with the story content.

I usually go into a series with John Constantine wanting to see art that is as gritty and dark as the character and the occult content.  Instead we see standard DC/Marvel style art.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad to see the series continue, but without the art that was a staple of the Vertigo days, this issue just isn’t as strong.
